"The structure had to be steady enough that the fixtures would not get knocked over, yet we had to make them nimble enough to be easily serviced and with a durable  material that could be cleaned by the hotel’s staff.”  Mr. Satanovsky designed the fixtures with a steel base for stability and an internal hinge that would be hidden from view, but still allowed the pyramid to easily tilt over to expose the light source.  Finding a fixture that would illuminate the entire pyramid was also a challenge, so Satanovsky designed an internal reflector system that forced the light to evenly distribute throughout the entire pyramid.  “We made the frames from aluminum tubing and stretched the client’s desired fabric around the frame as we do with an awning” Satanovsky said.
