When American Roads Retail was looking for a sign contractor for one of its first three NASCAR stores in the country, they sought a recommendation from their landlord, Loyola University. We’re proud to say that Loyola recommended American Sign Factory based on our performance for one of their other tenants in the same building; Argo Tea. Based on general specifications provided by the American Roads and NASCAR design teams, we fabricated a unique cabinet sign that captured the energy and excitement of the most popular sport in the country. The sign, which is cantilevered off the side of a landmark building on Chicago’s “Mag Mile” was fabricated using a combination of steel angle-iron, formed aluminum panels and sheeting, multi-colored vinyl applied to formed plastic faces, neon tubing to backlight channel letters on both sides of the sign and fluorescent cove lighting for an extra “halo” effect. Because of the age of the building, installation posed a particular challenge, but was accomplished using steel tubing welded to steel plates that were bolted to threaded rod anchored to the building using an industrial strength epoxy.
