On
Jan. 3, ISA collaborated with several industry allies to submit
comments to the International Code Council on a new model green building
code that is currently in its second round of drafts. ISA is seeking
changes to the rules governing illumination of exterior signage and the
use of neon and cold cathode lamps. As currently written, the new
International Green Construction Code would establish shutoff
requirements for signs at closed businesses and would greatly restrict
the use of most types of lamps that contain mercury. In May, ISA staff
will appear at an ICC meeting in Dallas to defend our proposals. For
