Leave the light on
To combat initiatives by organizations that want to restrict nighttime lighting, ISA is leading a coalition of sign user associations against these efforts. The coalition will educate federal and state officials on the necessity of effective lighting for signs at night and will get sign users more involved in these issues. Proposals such as mandatory dimming and shutoff requirements for illuminated signs can adversely affect the economic health of businesses and communities, and this coalition will work to make sure that sign users have the right to advertise effectively and safely at night. The inaugural meeting of the coalition is in the planning stages. For more information, contact David Hickey at david.hickey@signs.org.
